ABOUT TRIBE

OUR MISSION

We Embrace Sacred Reciprocity

Part of our mission at TRIBE is to foster a nurturing environment for healing, transformation, and community connection. We aim to make our offerings as accessible as possible while valuing the time and energy of our incredible team of educators. We also recognize that the cost of membership or class packages may not fit everyone's budget. We see you, and more importantly, we want you to be a part of our journey.

We believe in creating meaningful exchanges rather than offering traditional discounts or coupons. If you're drawn to our community but see cost as a barrier to entry, please get in touch.

There are so many ways you can contribute to our vibrant community, from helping maintain the space to greeting members. While keeping the lights on is essential, so is ensuring that TRIBE remains a sanctuary, and that requires cleanliness, warm welcomes, and meticulous care—your skills and willingness to serve are invaluable to us.

Are you interested in joining TRIBE? Let’s explore our work-study program and other energy exchange opportunities together. We’re strengthened by each individual's authentic and meaningful contributions—that’s the beauty of community!

Our Story

TRIBE was born from a shared dream of movers, teachers, and community builders in Baltimore. Here, we offer a space where we’re free to explore, express, and connect through the art of embodiment – a place we can all call home.

It’s our deepest desire to attract and build a community that unites through a shared passion for holistic health, wellness, and spirituality. TRIBE isn’t just a gym or studio, but a school. We help you develop discipline and consistency with embodiment practices that support you in this wild journey called life.

We build our teachings on a foundation of the five elements of Chinese Medicine: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal.

This ancient wisdom reflects the planet’s natural cycles and teaches us to recognize our inner seasons. Each week, our class offerings connect with a common element and align with the current season.

This journey called life is personal, but it doesn’t need to be private. There's deep wisdom that emerges when we share our experiences and hold space for one another through the ups and downs of life.

At TRIBE, we aspire to build a community deeply aware and connected to their essence. Join us in this vibrant exploration of self and discover your power by being truly present in your body.

Our Logo -
A Cosmic Roadmap

One - Life as Unity

The circle is a symbol of completion and continuity – a representation of the cyclical nature of life. Unbroken, the circle shows us that we’re all in this together, all integral parts of the unified whole. Nothing is broken. Nothing needs to be fixed.

Three - Life as Possibility

The triangle’s sharp points and straight lines symbolize the power of manifestation – a cosmic megaphone that amplifies thoughts and dreams into reality. The apex represents the formless taking shape, where ideas and intentions materialize in the 3d. The three points represent the unification of the three aspects of your being: mind, body, and spirit.

The Vegisir - Your Personal GPS

We all feel lost sometimes. It’s a big world out there, and none of us were given a roadmap! The Vegvísir is a Viking symbol for a compass, providing guidance and direction so you can find your way home. No matter how wild the storm, you've got the tools to navigate back to the safety of your own body and heart.

The Team

At TRIBE, we believe embodiment unlocks our capacity to fully embrace this human experience. The practices we offer are an extension of who we are and how we choose to live.

Our philosophy is a reclamation of the mind-body-spirit connection. We embrace our physicality as a path toward self-awareness. Above all, we value playfulness as a vital counterbalance to life's seriousness.

Barri DeFrancisci

Barri is a 500-hour registered yoga teacher, meditation teacher, Pilates teacher, and dancer. She is an eternal Seeker of truth, inner growth, and peace, and loves sharing the practices and teachings of yoga in order to contribute to a more peaceful and joyful world. She is so excited for TRIBE to be a loving home for community to gather in mindful movement and healing practices!

Gary Grisham III

To make a short story long, these practices continue to fuel my zest for life undoubtedly and I am stoked to share my process thus far! Training martial arts keeps me on my toes and consistently unearths my shit that I thought wasn’t there. The cold water has been very effective at showing me that the obstacle Is often the way, even when it’s covered in ice ;) And finding my dance within freeform movement allows me sing my song through the body to the fullest. I intend to weave these lessons into my offerings as opportunities for reflection & in hopes to learn more about how we “human better.'“

Lola Manekin

Hi I am Lola! My superpower is to blend ancient medicines with modern practices in a quantum, multidimensional dance of healing. Through Breathwork, Body Alchemista and many other transformative offerings, my mission is to create experiences where individuals embody their fullest selves, embodying TRIBE's essence.

Harnoor Singh

Dr. Harnoor Singh embodies the fusion of passion and expertise, integrating movement, holistic wellness, and physical therapy education. "I'm excited to work at tribe and bring all my knowledge to the community!" His commitment to balance, strength, and mobility fosters holistic well-being and inspires others. He shares insights on anatomy, human development, and conscious movement.

Martha Wallace McAlpine

Martha McAlpine is a teacher's teacher. Her aim is to activate stagnant energy and mental inertia, elevate it to a new state, and stabilize the outcome so that progress is steady and trustworthy. We are built for evolution, so let's get at it!

Eric Sipes

Emily is excited to be a part of the TRIBE community as both a student and teacher. She looks forward to guiding our community through embodied yoga practices to support us in coming home to ourselves.

Diara Beaslay

Bringing diverse dance expertise to Baltimore, I'm dedicated to fostering authentic self-expression. My classes blend beautiful, funky music with nuanced movement, creating a safe, supportive space for creativity and holistic healing. Dancers explore mind, body, and spirit through the joy of movement.

Alexandre Beaslay

Amid chaos, House Dance became my most loyal and consistent friend, pushing me out of my comfort zone, connecting me with my body. It provided an outlet for emotional transmutation and boosted my confidence and freedom on & off the dance floor as well as a sense of belonging to a greater community

Melodi Wilkie

As a kid who was passionate about gymnastics, it’s no surprise that I fell in love with the practice of antigravity fitness. Hanging upside down like a monkey and swinging in the hammock lights up my inner child! That’s the energy that will infuse my classes at Tribe.

Cortney Chaite

As a trauma-informed Breathwork Guide, I'm deeply committed to guiding you in rediscovering your body's wisdom through breath, movement, music, and sound. Together, we'll unlock pleasure, release stuck energy, quiet the mind, and restore balance to your nervous system, nurturing greater aliveness, self-connection and joy.

Laura Glaeser

I am a 200-hour registered yoga teacher and sociocultural anthropologist by training and by heart. I love engaging with, learning from, and guiding all levels of practitioners through opportunities to get into their bodies, feel around for and honor their edges, and gradually expand some of those edges out.

Santiago Calderon

I am a mental performance coach and a stretch therapist. My passion for sports led me to experience different injuries, and with each injury I began to become more interested about the human body and mind and how together they create infinite resilience. In 2019 I took a Steel Mace Flow class with the one and only Leo Savage, and was drawn in by his view on how through the flowing movements we could find a perfect balance of control between body and mind. His teachings matched the theories I had been researching and turned them into action. In my classes I focus on providing awareness and understanding of where your body and mind are, and I will challenge you to take the small steps to climb the big barriers in life.

Jai Saraswati

Jai Saraswati means "She who brings victory, harmony, prosperity, and peace to all by merging with divine wisdom and her highest self." Her passion lies in sharing Kundalini Yoga, a practice known for its profound impact on healing, transformation, and personal growth. She encourages everyone to join her in broadening their awareness together.

Visharad Moktan

Hey, I’m Visharad, originally from Nepal but now rooted in Baltimore. I wear many hats: public health educator, youth advocate, and lover of all things movement. In my classes, I strive to cultivate an environment of curiosity, playfulness, grit, and joy, where movement is an opportunity for self-discovery, empowerment, and resiliency. Strength and endurance training are just the beginning and it’s not just about mastering physical feats; it’s about tapping into the boundless potential of our bodies and mindset.
